Today saw the return visit against Chabanais Bowls Club. The day started with some of us going to the hall in St. Martial to set up 4 mats for the afternoon bowling. We then retired to the Relais in St Martial where 30 of us filled up with lunch, soup, buffet, boeuf bourguignon, cheese and dessert. After lunch we returned to the Salles des Fetes at St Martial de Vallette to play short mat bowls.
Chabanais came with 12 bowlers as did we, so we were formed into teams of three and played 3 woods each over a timed session. There were three games played and PLBC came out the winners of the day on 17 points to 7. It was a very enjoyable afternoon, and some very hgigh quality bowls were played by both sides. I would like to thank Mike and Christine Ellingham for setting up the match and Club President Brian for his kind words at the end of the games.
We had an unusual piece of kit on one of the mats, the centre block or bridge had been left behind so a piece of firewood, of roughly the same size was employed instead. It elicited some laughter but did exactly what it was supposed to do. At the end of the game it was donated to Sharon Courage who said she had a great place for it..... I hope it kept her very warm.
It was a pleasure and delight to see David Preston up and about after his recent illness. Although still a little fatigued he and Rosemarie attended the lunch and chatted with both sides. It was really nice to see you David and I am sure we all wish you a speedy and full recovery.
Thanks must also go to the ladies who made the tea after the second game. Providing hot tea and coffee along with biscuits and cake for 26 people within a limited timeframe is difficult so thanks to Sue Carr, Sue and Sharon for you help today.
Thanks also to Richard and Sharon, Alan and Sue, Sue and Andy (and me)  for setting out the mats and also for cleaning the hall which had not been cleaned after an earlier event. Your help was much appreciated.
Nice to see Ron after his recent bout with illness and sad that Jan Oborne was missing due to fl, we hope she gets well soon.
Again very well done to all the bowlers, it was so nice to see so many people enjoying themselves and playing some wonderful bowls. Hope to have a re-run very soon.

Thanks Adie
