Correspondance / Reviews

Living in England and being league bowlers for a club in the Midlands, we also have a holiday home in the Charente Region 16 in France. It was there that we sought out and joined the Perigord Lawn Bowls Club, which is situated just south of us near to Vieux Mareuil on the D 939 in Region 24, and is situated on a camp site with bar and restaurant facilities for use by the players.

As members we found that the situation suited our needs, in that when we were in France we could attend and participate in all of the clubs activities such as competitions, leagues as well as casual bowling. In the closed season there is also a league of short mat indoor bowling once a week. For the last few years there has also been a winter bowls holiday to the south of Spain for sun and to compete with the clubs of that area.

We have found some very nice and friendly people at the club always willing to welcome us whenever we turn up to play, and even this year when my wife has had an illness which prevented us from leaving England, we had telephone and email on her progress which was so pleasing to receive. Because of our problems, we have remained with the club as visitors and still find ourselves welcome and able to join in most of their activities.

We would recommend this club to both experienced and new players who live in or visit this area of France.
